Len Morse
[Home]
At the beginning of his musical
career in fifth grade, Len had tried—at the suggestion of the school band
director—to play his first musical instrument, a violin.
He found it instantly uncomfortable and instead chose the shiny, brass
trumpet! Since then he has played
in numerous ensembles throughout his education, including at (the then) Towson
State University in Baltimore, where he studied privately under Ray Moore and
Ted Jones. Len graduated with a
Bachelor of Science degree in Geography, with a minor in Music.
He
presently works for the federal government as a Cartographer in Silver Spring,
Maryland, but has never lost his love for music.
Len is a member of the Fugitive Brass Quintet, Rockville
Concert Band (with whom he has toured Eastern Europe), the Rock-’n-ville
Swing Band, the Dixie Rascals, and the Rockville
Brass Band. He also devotes time to
the Columbia Concert Band as a percussionist and freelances whenever possible,
having gained experience in churches and pit orchestras all over Maryland.
A few of his favorite shows are Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma!,
Brigadoon, and Bye Bye Birdie.
Additionally, Len has experience arranging and composing for small
ensembles, and has conducted various groups in the Washington, D.C. area.
