Dave Fosdick
Dave
Fosdick began playing drums in elementary school. He took private lessons
for six years from Frank Lizzo in Huntington, Long Island. He performed
with the concert band and marching band at the State University of New
York at Oswego from 1963 to 1965.
Dave graduated
from the U. S. Navy School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia in 1966 and
was assigned to the 266th Army Band in Tan Son Nhut, South Viet
Nam. The band entertained troops and performed at hospitals and
orphanages. The 266th played at the Royal Easter Show in
Sydney, Australia and the anniversary of the coronation of the king of
Thailand in 1967. Dave played with several bands in Hawaii, Florida,
and New York. Since Dave moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 2001, he
has performed with the Rockville Dixie Rascals and the LaSalle Dance
Orchestra.
Dave graduated
from Florida Atlantic University in 1971 and taught in the Dade County
Public Schools in Miami. He moved back to New York to become a flight
instructor on Long Island.
Dave started his
career with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1976 in New York. He
is currently an Aviation Safety Inspector at FAA Headquarters in
Washington, D.C. in the General Aviation Certification and Flight Training
Branch. He lives in Montgomery Village with his wife Linda and they have
two daughters and three granddaughters.
